Amanda Abrahamson

Occupation:  I am the Grant Reporting Specialist for Foundation and Government Relations at The College of St. Scholastica

Favorite hobby:  Reading, running, sewing, and knitting (in no particular order)

Dance background:  I trained at the School of the Minnesota Ballet, and spent summers training at DanceAspen in Aspen, Colorado. I was named an apprentice with the Minnesota Ballet in 1997, was promoted into the company at the start of the 1998-99 season, and danced professionally until 2010. I taught in the School of the Minnesota for 11 years (levels 3-7, adult ballet, and a creative dance class for students with special needs), and taught ballet in Continuing Education at The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.
A short message to your dancers:  What if I took the rules of ballet away? You don’t have to turn out, you don’t have to point your foot, you don’t have to straighten your knee. What’s left? Movement. And that is what dance ultimately is - movement, so lets breathe and move (while still turning out, pointing our feet and straightening our knees)!

Dance background:  I have danced for 17 years at Stacey's Studio.  Throughout the years I have danced jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, and hip hop.  Nine of those years I have been on the competition dance team.  The last two years I choreographed my solos in jazz and lyrical. I was selected to be a standout dancer at nationals a couple of times.  To further my knowledge of dance I have attended workshops in the twin cities, Duluth, and Disney World.  I danced in the Disney parade twice.  I have also traveled to New York City to attend dance class at Steps on Broadway.  I recently returned from Paris, France where I took ballet class at Paris Marais Dance School.  While dancing at the studio I have also danced on my high school dance team for four years.  I competed on both JV and varsity lines in jazz and high kick for the Duluth East East Side Steppers.  While on the high school dance team I performed in a half time show for The Outback Bowl.

A short message to your dancers:  Dancers, I am so excited for this season to begin!  We had an amazing recital last year, and I am ready to raise the bar in our 31st season at Stacey’s Studio.  Get ready to work hard, have fun, and make great friends as we dance our way through another school year!  Love, Miss Katie

Jamie Tolaas

Occupation:  Wellness Specialist at Maurices

Favorite color:  Green or pink!

Dance background:  My love for dance started at the age of three when I first began at Stacey's Studio.  During my time as a student, I enjoyed learning many forms of dance but hip hop, jazz and lyrical have become some of my favorites.  I trained with Stacey up until high school when I joined the dance team for those four years.  After graduating and moving onto college, I was on the UMD Dance Team for two years and also took dance technique courses while I was there.  I have always grown up with a love and passion for dance, so I was beyond excited for the opportunity to work on the staff at Stacey's Studio.  It has been a wonderful experience working with Stacey, the other staff, and the dancers over the past nine years.  I continue to look forward to sharing my gift and love of dance with the next generation of dancers!
